Project Overview

Ecophotography will gather 30 young people from Spain, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece and Armenia during eight days (29th Oct to 7th Nov). This project intends the participants to improve both their knowledge about environmental issues and photography skills.

The plan to achieve these goals foresees that the first half of the Project will be dedicated for learning: participants will acquire knowledge and skills about the two topics of the exchange. Meanwhile, the second half will involve the practical implementation of this learning: participants will elaborate an environmental brochure. This document is supposed to be mostly graphic (photography!) and must warn about the main environmental problems in the world.

Besides, the Programme includes a lot of interesting and funny activities such as visits, night activities, daily games, contests and so on.

Participants Profile

The participant candidates will be evaluated based on their level of motivation and interest in the topic. The most motivated individuals who wish to fully participate and contribute to the success of this project will be selected. Personal interviews might be conducted in order to verify the requirements and to select the most suitable participants among all the applications.

Participant’s requirements

  • Having interest in the topic of the Project and an active participation in all workshops and sessions.
  • Being between 18 and 30 years old.
  • Having a fluent level of English language.
  • Having the european health card or medical insurance (for Armenians) valid during the period of the Exchange. (Highly recommended)

Group requirements:

  • Your group should be gender balanced, meaning 3 boys and 3 girls. This is mandatory. In case you have trouble to adjust to it, we could try asking another partner to balance it. But in the end there must be 15 boys and 15 girls.
  • Your group should be age-balanced, meaning 3 participants in the range of 18-22 years old and 3 participants from 23 to 30 years old.
  • At least 2 of the participants of your group must come from economic disadvantaged background.

Other main requirements:

We need everyone to bring their laptop for some workshops. If you don’t have one, contact us and we will try to fix it, but you risk having to follow the sessions by looking and not by doing it.

We need everyone who has a reflex camera to bring it. There must be 1 camera every 5 participants.

It is also important to find participants who have a clear understanding that the project does not end with the completion of activities, but continues with the dissemination and presentations of the results. Gender balance and group diversity in terms of different social and cultural backgrounds will be taken into consideration.

Accommodation and Food

The Youth Exchange will take place in a big rural house located in the countryside near to Jimera the Libar (province of Malaga, Spain). This house is surrounded by nature, even a river flows through the property. It’s an amazing site to hold an event like these where we won’t be concerned about bothering neighbours or being bothered.

There will be a cook who will bring breakfast, lunch and dinner to the place. It will be varied and will include regional typical food. There will always be options for vegetarians, vegans or allergics as long as they point it out in the corresponding participants will receive.

Sight of Ronda, a small city 1h away that we will probably visit

Rules

General rules about respecting each other: be on time, respect other people, clean up after yourself, do not disturb others late at night, follow the venue rules, separating wastes, follow the workshops and sessions actively.

Drug usage, violence, sexual harassment, theft or any other serious misbehavior will result in us calling the police, casting you out of the exchange and not reimbursing your travel cost.

NOTE: The travel cost will not be reimbursed to the people who:

  • are not taking part of the whole youth Exchange
  • severely break the rules
  • repeteadly break the rules and doesn’t react to the warnings

Travel

Since the Exchange will be hold from 30th October to 6th November (both included), all the participants must arrive to the accomodation day 29th and leave day 7th.

That doesn’t mean that the only option is looking for flights for days 29 and 7. As a participant, you can arrive a bit earlier and leave a bit later (4 days maximum prior/post project) in case there are no flights availables for those days or in case you want to take advantage and do tourism in the area for some days. Obviously the organisation won’t cover the costs of those days, but we will be glad to help giving advices and tips about:

  • finding cheap places to sleep
  • which places you should visit in the region
  • transportation
  • others

Travel costs are covered, but there is a limit depending on the distance:

  • Armenia: 820 €
  • Bulgaria: 360 €
  • Greece: 360 €
  • Hungary: 360 €
  • Spain:   20 €

Also, you must be aware that you will have to pay your flight and all the transport ticket that you need. It will be after the Project that you will give us the tickets/bills so we can proceed to the reimbursement.

Main destinations for your flights should be Madrid or Malaga. It’s unlikely that other suitable destinations are available, and if they are, they will be a lot more expensive. If there is a big amount of participants arriving to Madrid/Malaga, we might hire a bus to bring you to the accomodation and take you back to those cities 29 evening and 7 morning. Otherwise you will have to catch public transport.

Finnaly, we ask you to buy your plane tickets with enough time so they can be cheaper. Also, try to book the cheapest option that fits with your plans. Like this, you won’t risk exceeding the travel costs.

To be entitled for reimbursement the participant has to comply with the following
guidelines:
• The travel has to be economical mean for the group as the whole
• For plane, train or bus the ticket has to be economy/2nd class
• Only eligible transport for reimbursement is authorized public transportation company
• Examples of ineligible transportation: priority boarding, seat reservation, additional language, business class tickets, plane tickets on longer routes, plane tickets with stops for one night or more, taxi, rented cars, private transport companies, travel starting or ending in different country then the sending organization’s country, etc.
• For electronic ticket/receipt/invoice the document has to be delivered in PDF format. If it’s on a website, it has to be saved as PDF or printed into PDF. Screenshots or forwarded emails are no accepted
• If no electronic version is available, the original transport ticket and receipt/invoice has to be delivered to the project coordinator. (We recommend purchasing electronic tickets whenever it’s possible because of ease of use)
• The travel dates can be max 3 days prior/post project
• The participant has to be on the project for the whole duration and has to attend all the sessions
• The participant is responsible for delivering all the documents required for reimbursement, the deadline for delivering the documents is 30 days after the end of the project

Cost

Youth Europa will provide accommodation, food and programme activities during the project. You must keep all the bills, boarding passes and all kinds of tickets with you, because we need them in order to reimburse your travel cost. There is a participation fee of 40 euros that will help us improve the quality of this project.

NOTE: The travel cost will not be reimbursed to the people who are not taking part of the whole youth exchange or who severely break the rules of the exchange. It is recommended to bring some cash with you in order to buy some of the services offered by the accommodation.
